There are no prerequisites for a full-scale attack by Azerbaijan against Armenia, but there will be attempts by Azerbaijan to improve its positions, including through force. Alexander Skakov, deputy director of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, said this during the NEWS.am program The Power Factor.

According to his assessment, Azerbaijan needs these aggravations on the border, because in this way there is ground for trade. "The border between Armenia and Azerbaijan, like all borders of the USSR times, is not delimited and not demarcated, so such problems are inevitable," the expert believes. When this type of problem arose between Russia and Azerbaijan, Russia gave a rather large, disputed piece of territory to Azerbaijan. The same was in relations between Georgia and Azerbaijan.

"A lot of difficulties arise here and, of course, Azerbaijan uses this lever to put pressure on Yerevan. Baku is guided by the following principle: if you do not go along with our conditions, then we will again raise the issue of belonging of this or that territory at the border," Skakov added.
