The start of the work of the European Union (EU) civil observation mission along the Armenia-Azerbaijani border is given. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced this at Thursday’s Cabinet meeting of the Armenian government.

"You know that a respective agreement was reached at the quadrilateral meeting in Prague [between the leaders of Armenia, France, EU European Council, and Azerbaijan]. And I have to record with pleasure that the partners of the European Union have responded very promptly and made a decision. The preparatory group is already in Armenia, already working, and the main group—the observation mission consisting of 40 people—will arrive in Armenia in the near future", said Pashinyan.

He noted that from the beginning it is planned that this observation mission shall work for two months, but there are opinions among experts that it is necessary to extend this period, or to try to make this observation mission permanent.

"I'm not sure about that, but it's a topic that's being discussed. If we see such a possibility, necessity, we do not rule out that we will look into the matter more deeply," the Armenian premier emphasized.
