German Foreign Minister and Defense Minister Annalena Baerbock and Christine Lambrecht have asked to allocate €1.5bn more than budgeted for arms supplies to Kiev next year. This was reported on Saturday by the magazine Der Spiegel, citing a letter sent by them to German Finance Minister Christian Lindner.
The budget for 2023 provides almost €700 million for military aid to Kiev. Baerbock and Lambrecht demand an increase to €2.2 billion. Only with such a budget, they write, will Germany be able to concretely and visibly show that it assumes the responsibility that its international partners expect of it.
