Peaceful Neighborhood Initiative initiated to maintain peace in the South Caucasus region doesn't contradict and doesn't substitute any other cooperation format, said Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili after his meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev today, Novosti-Georgia reported.

Garibashvili also said that during the talks the sides came to the conclusion that what's happening in Ukraine should be regulated through negotiations.

The Georgian prime minister noted that the meeting discussed the situation in the region and in the world, taking into account the war in Ukraine.

"Today we had a very important meeting. We talked about many issues related to a strong partnership and cooperation between our countries. We also considered the difficult situation in the world, the current processes.  Naturally, we touched upon the situation in the region and everyone agrees that what is happening in Ukraine should be regulated through negotiations.

I would also like to say that in the face of rapidly changing and complex challenges in the region and the world, great importance is attached to peace and stability, which are key factors in the well-being of our region and our peoples in general.

"We also touched upon the current situation in the region, the recent agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia to launch a peace negotiation process. This, of course, gives us great hope.

"I would like to reiterate that Georgia, myself and my government reiterate our full readiness to continue and support the peace policy that we started together. I also want to note that this neighborhood peace initiative does not contradict or replace any other cooperation format, on the contrary it will help, and I believe that together we will do many important things," he said.
