Israel is deeply concerned over Russia and Iran's military ties and is conducting daily assessments to review its position on the conflict, Prime Minister Yair Lapid told The Jerusalem Post.

In a phone call between Lapid and Dmytro Kuleba, the Israeli PM "received an update on the war in Ukraine, and emphasised that Israel stands with the Ukrainian people," a statement from Lapid's office said.

"In their conversation, the prime minister emphasised his deep concern about the military ties between Iran and Russia," the statement noted.

He added that in doing so, it is necessary to "ensure that Israel's national security interests are protected at all times.

Although Lapid did not specify, but Israel's policy not to supply weapons to Ukraine is partly related to the conflict resolution mechanism between Tel Aviv and Moscow, which allows Israel to strike Iranian targets in Syria without facing Russian troops stationed there, the newspaper notes.

Although Israel has not supplied weapons, it has said it is willing to help Ukraine build a civilian early warning system for missile attacks.
