Threat warning sirens will be installed in Estonia, Interfax reported citing the ERR portal.
According to the source, the Information Technology Center of the Ministry of Interior and the Rescue Department of Estonia signed a contract with the Slovak company Telegrafia for the purchase of warning sirens, which, along with the media, official websites, SMS-notifications and speakers will be additional sources of warning of military threats and emergencies.
Sirens will be installed in 22 cities across the country, particularly in and around Tallinn, Narva, Pärnu, Tartu and others. The first systems will be installed by the end of the year.
Estonian authorities have allocated €4.5 million to finance the warning system.
