U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's husband Paul was injured in an attack, the politician's press office said.
"Early this morning, an assailant broke into the Pelosi residence in San Francisco and violently assaulted Mr. Pelosi" a statement released said.
Paul Pelosi was hospitalized and is receiving "excellent medical care" at the hospital.
The press office also added that the speaker himself was not in San Francisco at the time.
