The visit of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to Iran is conditioned by the meeting of the leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia in Sochi, Iranian expert Harut Arakelyan told NEWS.am.

The expert reminded that this meeting was not planned. The decision was made at the last minute.

"We must find out what was discussed in Sochi. After all, this is why the Armenian delegation went to Iran. We can assume that issues related, in particular, to the North-South corridor will be discussed with the Iranian side. It is also possible that there will be talks involving the military component. They will probably try to make military cooperation closer. I think this is mostly conditioned by the guarantees the Armenian side received during the Sochi talks," the Iranian expert noted.

According to Arakelyan, Moscow, Yerevan and Tehran can develop quite close cooperation, which, subsequently, will prevent the emergence of new players in the region.

"This, in turn, contributes to closing the vacuum that has arisen in our region," the expert is convinced, adding that Armenia should deepen its cooperation with Iran.

According to the Iranian expert, cooperation between Yerevan and Tehran will prevent further activation of Turkey, which has its own views on the region.
