Kiev must give real guarantees of strict compliance with the Istanbul agreements, in particular on the non-use of the humanitarian corridor for military purposes, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in a conversation with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

In the course of the conversation the sides discussed the situation with the implementation of the agreements on the export of grain from the Black Sea ports, reached with the participation of the Turkish side.

"Vladimir Putin informed about the reasons for Russia's decision to suspend this deal. It was emphasized that the Kiev regime with the support of Western supervisors used the sea humanitarian corridor created for transportation of Ukrainian grains in order to strike at the infrastructure and ships of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in Sevastopol, which ensured the safe functioning of the mentioned route. It is necessary to conduct a detailed investigation of the circumstances of this incident, as well as to obtain from Kiev real guarantees of strict compliance with the Istanbul agreements, in particular on the non-use of the humanitarian corridor for military purposes. Only after that would it be possible to consider resuming the work within this 'Black Sea Initiative'.

The President of Russia also reminded about the non-fulfillment of the second part of the package deal - to unblock the export of Russian agricultural products and fertilizers to the world markets. In addition, it was once again pointed out that over the three months of these agreements, the task to ensure the delivery of food as a priority to the most needy countries has not been fulfilled. In this connection, Russia's readiness to supply significant amounts of grain and fertilizers to Africa free of charge has been confirmed," the Kremlin press service said in a statement.
