There is the November 2020 statement and a clause in it that the presence of the Russian peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh can be extended for another five years. Russian political scientist Fyodor Voytolovsky told this to a press conference Wednesday.
He noted that there are still 2.5 years until 2025, and it is possible to reach agreements and do a lot during that time.
"There need to be weighty reasons for not extending the term of the mission. I believe both [i.e., the Armenian and the Azerbaijani] sides will have weighty reasons to extend the term of the [Russian] peacekeepers' mission in Nagorno-Karabakh," the Russian analyst added.
