Protests in Iran's Alborz Province have turned into violence, IRNA reports.
During the riots, armed rebels killed a member of the Basij detachment and wounded at least 10 policemen.
In Karaj, the capital of Alborz province, several rioters tried to block the road connecting the city with Qazvin Province on the pretext of the 40th day of the death of one of the people killed during the recent protests.
The police and security forces intervened to disperse the rioters and open the way, but the protesters started throwing stones and construction debris at the law enforcement officers.
They overthrew road signs and incited the crowd by chanting slogans.
Also, they attacked the policemen—stopping one of their cars, seriously injuring three policemen, setting fire to the police booth at Hesarak Square, and a police van in the neighboring area.
