Spain's Congress of Deputies - the country's lower house of parliament - did not approve an international agreement signed with Azerbaijan as a sign of solidarity with Armenia, El Confidencial reported.
"It is an unusual fact that Congress does not approve an international agreement signed by the government. It happened yesterday. In solidarity with the Armenian people confronted with Azerbaijani aggression, most deputies voted against the agreement on classified information with this regime," Spanish MP Jon Iñárritu tweeted.
The agreement signed in Madrid in December 2021 suggests the exchange of classified information with Azerbaijan and protection of that information.
As a result of the vote on ratification of the document 174 deputies opposed, 132 - in favor.
