The top prize of the European lottery EuroMillions draw of € 160 million was won on Friday and went to a French resident, the newspaper Le Parisien reported.

As the newspaper noted, this is the seventh largest win in the history of the lottery in France. The biggest score in the country tore October 15, 2020 resident of French Polynesia, whose lucky ticket has brought € 220 million.

The identity of the lucky man is not disclosed, we only know that the winning ticket was bought in the department of Pas-de-Calais in the north of the Republic. Some of the winners who won more than €1 million admitted to the newspaper that they did not tell their relatives, especially children, fearing, for example, that after their discussions with their peers the information could reach malefactors who would want to kidnap them for ransom.

It is not yet known whether the winner has claimed the prize - they have 60 days to do so. At the end of this period, if not claimed, winnings over €10 million will be returned to the lottery. Smaller amounts, according to the law of 2019, must be returned to the state. In 2020 the French treasury thus increased by €70 million, and in 2021 - by €150 million.
