Russia and the United States are holding talks in Ankara, Russian leader's spokesman Dmitry Peskov told RIA Novosti.

"It was an initiative of the American side. We are not saying anything about the content," the Kremlin spokesman clarified.

Today, CNN, citing a representative of the U.S. National Security Council, reported that a meeting between Foreign Intelligence Service Director Sergei Naryshkin and CIA head William Burns is taking place in Turkey.

According to the newspaper, Moscow and Washington are not planning to discuss Ukraine, while the USA warned Kiev about the meeting in advance. It is noted that the CIA head wants to touch upon the topics of Americans imprisoned in Russia, nuclear weapons and the associated risks of escalation.
