CIA chief William Burns is meeting with Russian Foreign Intelligence Service Director Sergei Naryshkin in Ankara on Monday to discuss U.S. detainees and nuclear risks, CNN reported, citing a spokesman for the U.S. National Security Council.

CIA Director Bill Burns is meeting today with his Russian counterpart Sergei Naryshkin in Ankara to discuss the cases of unjustly detained U.S. citizens, the channel said in a report.

Burns will not discuss the peaceful resolution of the conflict in Ukraine.

He is conveying a message about the consequences of Russia's use of nuclear weapons and the risks of escalation, the spokesman said, adding that Washington had notified Kiev about the meeting in advance.
