Azerbaijan has the position that Armenia occupied some territories before 2021, and they believe that Yerevan should leave those areas as well, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said during the government hour in the parliament on Wednesday.
"We say: well, let us all understand, if Armenia has to leave some territories, then by which border, that is where should it go? If we all understand, clarify this border, it can be a very acceptable conversation for Armenia.
If you take the border of the Soviet Union, and if Azerbaijan says that Armenia, for example, in the north-east holds some territories of Azerbaijan under occupation, it means that there is some territorial division, there is a border. We say, OK, show us the line, show us the map, and that may be interesting. We don't deny it, because most of the territories of the four Armenian villages in the same areas are occupied. For example, about 70% of the arable land of Berkaber village in Tavush province is occupied. About 70% of the arable land of Paravakar village is occupied. The arable lands of Aygehovit and Vazashen villages are occupied. This was in 1991, 1992-1994.
That's why we say: show us where the line is and what is the legal basis for the border line you mentioned? In that case we are ready to develop the situation to the point where there are no Armenian or Azerbaijani occupied territories along the entire border. We are ready to make these decisions, I am ready to take this responsibility," Pashinyan said.
