Power lines in Armenia, from the north to the very south, must be completely improved. This is extremely important, Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan said on Wednesday at the session of National Assembly answering the questions of MPs.
The MPs particularly asked whether they are discussing with the Iranian party the possibility of expanding the "gas for electricity" program.
"For example, so that Iran not only buys electricity, but also that it can be exported?" asked MP Sergei Baghratyan.
In response, the deputy prime minister said that exporting electricity is quite an interesting topic.
"I think it is of great importance to us. It is very good that we are implementing projects to build energy communication lines in both directions: both to the north and to the south. We have to do this much more intensively because the power export opportunities in the region have greatly increased. We have an energy system, a production infrastructure that has much more potential," said Grigoryan.
According to him, if this potential is used properly, it can have a positive impact on domestic tariffs as well.
"One of the main reasons why domestic tariffs have never decreased is the low volume of sales. In that sense, I think we have to increase rates. We have to have modern transmission line systems," he added.
