The price of gold on Thursday morning is falling, according to the trading data. At the same time the dollar is rising against world currencies, which traditionally has a negative impact on the quotation of the precious metal.
The December gold futures price on the New York Comex exchange fell by $10.55 or 0.59% to $1,765.25 per troy ounce. December silver futures were down 1.68% to $21.163 an ounce.
The dollar index (exchange rate against a basket of currencies of the six U.S. trading partners) rose 0.17% to 106.47 points. A stronger dollar makes gold less available for purchase in other currencies.
