Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that during a meeting in Ankara, representatives of the Russian Federation and the United States agreed to refrain from using nuclear weapons.
Erdogan said Turkish intelligence had informed him that neither the US nor Russia intends to attempt to use nuclear weapons at the moment.
Earlier, John Kirby, coordinator for strategic communications at the White House National Security Council, reported that Sergei Naryshkin, director of the Russian SVR, and William Burns, head of the US CIA, met in Ankara on November 14. According to him, it was held in order to preserve communication between the countries on security issues.
On November 16, in the communiqué on the G20 summit, the G20 member countries wrote that the use or threat of use of nuclear weapons was unacceptable. The document noted that peaceful conflict resolution, efforts to resolve crises, and diplomacy and dialogue were vital.
