Libya's Foreign Ministry said Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias broke his promises by refusing to meet with Libya's Presidential Council Chairman Mohamed Menfi upon his arrival in Tripoli, the Athens News Agency AMNA reported.

According to the Libyan agency, minutes after the government plane landed in Tripoli, Dendias refused to get off the plane and demanded an immediate flight to Benghazi. Instead of Menfi, Dendias was met by Najlia Mangoush, foreign minister of the interim government of Tripoli.

The newspaper specifies that the Greek minister was not originally planning to stop in Tripoli, but on the eve of his visit, Menfies asked Dendias for a personal meeting with him.

Sources at the Foreign Ministry called the incident an unfair game and noted that in this way the Libyan authorities hoped to blackmail Dendias.

Mancus signed an agreement with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu in October on the joint exploitation of hydrocarbon fields. Greece did not recognize the agreement.

Athens believes that the Tripoli government's term of office has expired and it has no right to sign international agreements.
