The EU will provide Ukraine with generators and power grid repair kits to help it survive the winter ahead of a possible worsening of hostilities. European Commissioner for Regulation Janez Lenarčič said this, Reuters reports
"Winter is almost here and this is now our cardinal priority when we talk about humanitarian aid," he told reporters, adding that the "systematic destruction by Russia of critical infrastructure in Ukraine" has made support over the winter even more crucial.
"We call on member states to allocate sufficient resources to meet such increased needs," he said.
Earlier this month, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmygal said that given expected supplies from abroad, the country should have enough gas for this winter.
