Poland will offer to deploy additional Patriot systems near the border with Ukraine following a German proposal, Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak said on Twitter.

"During today's conversation with the German side, I will propose that the system be stationed at the border with Ukraine," he wrote.

Germany has offered Warsaw a Patriot missile defense system to help it protect its airspace after a stray missile hit Poland last week.

The German government has already said it will offer its neighbor further help in protecting its airspace with German Eurofighter fighters after the incident.

The missile that struck Poland last week, killing two people, was fired by Ukrainian air defenses.
