The Polish Competition and Consumer Protection Court has overturned a decision to impose a fine of PLN 29.08 billion (€6.46 billion) on Gazprom and PLN 234 million (€52 million) on five companies involved in the construction of the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline, RBC reported referring to the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection in Poland.

"We are surprised by the decision. According to the court's oral opinion, those involved in the construction of Nord Stream-2 did not create a new joint venture, and assessing the economic consequences caused and whether they tried to circumvent the law is beyond the competence of the Office," the report said.

The regulator said it would appeal the decision.
