YEREVAN. – Continuation of the dialogue between authorities and oppositional Armenian National Congress (ANC) is impossible without releasing political prisoners, Armenian former president, opposition leader Levon Ter-Petrosyan said at the ANC rally on Friday.

“We follow a simple formula, which states that dialogue is possible when there are no political prisoners,” Ter-Petrosyan said.

According to him, if authorities take no measures to release the arrested ANC activists, the ANC will have to state that the incident between ANC activists and police was planned to stop the dialogue. However, in case ANC activist Tigran Arakelyan is released soon, ANC is ready to resume the talks.

In case the activist is not released, the dialogue will not resume and ANC will have to talk to the authorities in other language.

"But I do not mean revolution or rebellion. Under the ‘other language’ I mean mobilization of social forces, which will bring to snap elections," the former president stated.  

ANC and ruling coalition launched talks on social-political and economic issues late in July. At the end of August ANC suspended the talks motivating it by the rejection of changing the measure of restraint for the arrested ANC activist Tigran Arakelyan.
