YEREVAN. – The risk group of people committing suicide is 13-23 and above 60. However, people of 30-60 years-old mostly commit suicides, psychologist Samvel Khudoyan said at a press conference on Saturday.

Mostly teenagers commit suicide because of unanswered love, while pensioners feel like being useless for the society.

“At any age people committing suicides are in a state of deep depression. Reasons can be various. In order to overcome the depression people need to turn to either a psychologist or a priest to get psychological aid,” he stated.

The other participant of the conference priest Babken Hayrapetyan said that suicide is “a fact of separation from God.” When people commit suicide, they kill life given by the God, the priest stated.

The World Health Organization (WHO) supported by the International Association for Suicide Prevention marks September 10 as the day of suicide prevention in the world.  According to WHO, the number of suicides gets closer to 1 million annually, while the developing states top the list. A total of 30000 people commit suicide in Japan annually. The number of suicides is low in Latin America and Muslim countries.
