The main opposition political organization in Turkey - the People's Republican Party (PRP) - filed lawsuits against aides to President Recep Erdogan because they ordered to block access to Twitter in the country soon after the earthquakes, according to Bloomberg.

Twitter's work in Turkey was limited on February 9 due to the spread of fake messages about the earthquakes. The National Democratic Party believes that this was an unjustified measure in the conditions of the disaster, because the social network is a "vital channel" for people trapped under the rubble and those who help to dismantle them.

The lawsuits were filed against Fahrettin Altun, head of the Communications Authority, and Adil Karaismailoglu, head of the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure. Both officials are also aides to Turkish President Recep Erdogan.
