Belgian prosecutors have filed corruption charges against another MEP, Marc Tarabella, as part of a scandal in the European Parliament, the Belgian daily Le Soir reports.

The Belgian socialist Tarabella was detained on Friday.

He faces charges of corruption, money laundering and membership in a criminal organization, Le Soir reported, citing a statement from federal prosecutors.

Tarabella's lawyer, Maxim Toller, said his client denied any wrongdoing during questioning by Belgian authorities.
