Some of the Armenians who died as a result of the earthquakes in Syria and Turkey have been buried. Hovhannes Aleksanyan, the Head of Strategy Development at the Office of the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs of Armenia, told Armenian News-NEWS.am about this.
"The mother and son who died in Syria were buried. The couple and their child who died in the Turkish city of Malatya were buried. Armenian singer Zilan Tigris was buried, too. Another Armenian will be buried in Turkey tomorrow," Aleksanyan said.
He added that the official death toll of Armenians remains nine: two in Syria and seven in Turkey.
The death toll of the powerful earthquakes that hit Turkey on February 6 has reached 30 thousand in Turkey, and about 6,500 in Syria.
