Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi flew to the Chinese capital Tuesday morning at the head of a high-ranking political and economic delegation, IRNA reported.

China's Minister of Culture and Tourism met the head of the Iranian government at the airport, who is on a three-day visit to Beijing at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping.

The Chinese president will meet the Iranian president in a few hours.

Ebrahim Raisi's visit to Beijing is considered the first official trip by an Iranian president in 20 years.

A meeting with China's president, prime minister and chairman of the National People's Congress and the signing of cooperation documents are on the agenda for the first day of Raisi's visit to Beijing.
