Twenty cooperation agreements were signed between Tehran and Beijing in the presence of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and Chinese President Xi Jinping, IRNA reported.

Cooperation agreements in areas such as crisis management, tourism, communications and information technology, environment, international trade, intellectual property, agriculture, exports, health, media, sports and cultural heritage are among the documents signed between Iranian and Chinese authorities.

Raisi arrived Tuesday morning on a three-day visit to Beijing, where the Chinese minister of culture and tourism met him at the airport.

There was a ceremonial march of the guard of honor upon Raisi's arrival and then an artillery salute of 21 salvos was performed in honor of the Iranian delegation.

Ebrahim Raisi's visit to Beijing is considered the first official visit by an Iranian president in 20 years.

A meeting with China's president, prime minister and chairman of the National People's Congress and the signing of cooperation documents are on the agenda of the first day of Raisi's visit to Beijing.

Iran's exports to China in 2022 exceeded $14 billion, an increase of 58 percent over last year. China is the first importer of Iranian goods, and the second exporter to Iran.

Tehran and Beijing signed a 25-year cooperation agreement in March 2021 that envisages Iran's participation in the China-initiated "One Belt and One Road" project.
