A small protest by pro-Kurdish activists forced the suspension of Wednesday's plenary session of the European Parliament for a time, The Associated Press reported.

The protesters were in the parliament's visitors' area.

They unfurled flags in support of imprisoned Kurdish Workers' Party leader Abdullah Ocalan and began shouting. The incident occurred during a debate on climate and the environment.

MEPs asked the protesters to disperse, but when they did not, the session was suspended.

Security officers were seen pulling the activists' flags. There was a small scuffle. No one was hurt.
