The United States and member countries of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf have agreed to expand their defense cooperation and operational coordination to increase their ability to deter Iran's destabilizing activities. This is noted in a joint statement based on the results of their security talks.

The countries that signed the document called the proliferation and supply of weapons by Iran a serious security threat to the region and the world, calling on Tehran to immediately change its policy and cooperate conscientiously with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in investigations into the origin of nuclear material in Iran, RIA Novosti reports.

Also, the aforesaid statement calls on the world community to implement the UN Security Council resolution which prohibits the transfer of weapons to Iran.
