Finland does not want and does not intend to withdraw its application for NATO membership if Turkey does not ratify Sweden's membership, President Sauli Niinisto said at the Munich Security Conference. Finnish media reported this.

We don't want to and also can't withdraw our application," he said when asked what Finland would do if Turkey only ratified its application.

The president added that Finland's goal is to join NATO with Sweden as soon as possible.

After all, a long time has passed, he said.

Asked about the transfer of Leopard tanks to Ukraine, Niinisto neither confirmed nor denied that Finland had done so.

He said that Finland had sent aid to Ukraine, but he would prefer not to disclose its contents because he did not want to reveal the country's resources. He stressed that Finland provided more aid per capita than, for example, Germany and to the same extent as Poland.
