France said on Sunday it will begin delivering the armored vehicles it has promised Ukraine by next weekend. 
These vehicles, of the AMX-10 type and sometimes described as "light tanks," are used for armed reconnaissance and attacks on enemy tanks. 

The first vehicles will be sent to Ukraine "by the end of next week," Defence Minister Sebastien Lecornu told Le Parisien newspaper's Sunday edition. 

He declined to specify the number of vehicles in the first batch, saying he did not want to give Russia any "strategic information." 
According to the French Ministry of Defense, the AMX-10s have high mobility and provide protection against light infantry fire.

Their combat weight is 20 tons, which is about a third less than the French Leclerc battle tanks.

The French military has begun replacing the AMX-10, first developed in the 1970s, with more modern Jaguars.

According to Lecornu, the training of the Ukrainian crew on the AMX-10 is now "almost complete."

He added that the general training of the Ukrainian military is "increasing" in both France and Poland, which is also a member of NATO, adding that 600 Ukrainian soldiers will be trained every month, starting from March.

And in response to the question about the possible supply of fighter jets to Ukraine at the urgent request of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Lecornu said that the issue is "not taboo," noting that such military assistance causes complicated "logistical and practical problems."
