The spokesperson of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, issued a statement regarding the airstrike by the Israeli forces on the Syrian capital, Damascus.

"We strongly condemn the military actions taken by Israel, which are a gross violation of the norms of international law. We strongly call on the Israeli side to stop armed provocations against the Syrian Arab Republic and refrain from such steps that are fraught with dangerous consequences for the entire region.

We proceed from the fact that the continuation of such vicious practice is absolutely unacceptable, especially in the conditions when many countries of the world, including Russia, are actively helping Syria to overcome the consequences of the devastating earthquake by sending their rescuers, doctors, and humanitarian supplies,” reads, in particular, the statement by the spokesperson of the Russian foreign ministry.
