Eskandar Momeni, Secretary General of the Drug Control Headquarters, said Iran's anti-drug police seized 700 tons of drugs of various types in the past 10 months, Mehr reports.

According to Momeni, 12 Iranian law enforcement officers were killed in drug smuggling operations during the same period.

The country has spent more than $700 million to secure its borders and prevent the transit of drugs destined for European, Arab and Central Asian countries.
