After 44-day war Turkey entered the South Caucasus, which was unprecedented for the last 200 years, said Vardan Hakobyan, former Armenian Consul in St. Petersburg, during the discussion on February 22.

After the 44-day war Russia deployed peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh, but was forced to let Turkey enter the region.

He added that Turkey is totally dependent on the U.S. and is a participant in a global program that has been underway for 30 years since Blin Clinton came to power in the U.S.

"Turkey cannot avoid this project. Erdogan's whole policy shows that he is not against this program, but wants to take advantage of it. Erdogan's whole goal is to implement the policy of neo-Ottomanism," Hakobyan noted.

The ex-consul urged against hoping for a change in Turkey's foreign policy as a result of the earthquake.

The diplomat called it inappropriate to talk about guaranteeing peace at a time when uncertainty reigns in the region.
