NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg has said that the member states of the alliance have not yet managed to ensure a stable supply of artillery ammunition to Ukraine, the Sky News TV channel has reported.

According to him, only through interaction with the defense industry is it possible to maintain support for Ukraine, it makes it clear that the allies are entering into long-term contracts.

The secretary general said that the West's supply of munitions to Ukraine now is not sustainable because their consumption is much higher. He added that the Ukrainian conflict is turning into a logistical battle.

Stoltenberg also stressed that the North Atlantic Alliance will continue to support Ukraine "for as long as it takes" because Russian President Vladimir Putin cannot be allowed to defeat Ukraine.

"If President Putin wins in Ukraine, it will be a tragedy for the Ukrainians but it will also be dangerous for all of us," the NATO secretary general said.

He said Ukraine will eventually join NATO, but for now the focus should be on ensuring Ukraine's triumph as a sovereign independent country in Europe.
