The Spanish Defense Ministry has signed an agreement with the company Nammo Palencia, which will create a strategic stockpile of ammunition, El Mundo reported.

The agreement was concluded for $7.6 million. under it the defense department will receive 5.56 × 45 mm ammunition. This is the standard ammunition used for small arms of the North Atlantic Alliance.

Earlier, the head of the Spanish Foreign Ministry, Jose Manuel Albares, said that the majority of representatives of the European Union member states were in favour of Estonia's proposal to jointly purchase arms and ammunition for Ukraine. He noted that after the political debate, the next step was to discuss this initiative with the defense ministers of the EU member states.
