British King Charles III and his wife Camilla refused to use the famous 260-year-old Gold State carriage for the coronation ceremony, writes the Daily Mail. Traditionally it was used for the coronation of the new monarch, taking him from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Abbey.

Another vehicle was chosen. According to the publication, the Gold State carriage will take the king and his wife back to the palace.

Elizabeth II used Gold State for the 1953 coronation trip. But later in 2018, she admitted that the ride was "terrible" because the 1762 carriage has poor suspension - the jolt on the road is very palpable.
