A trilateral meeting between the delegations of Turkey, Finland and Sweden on NATO membership will be held in Brussels on March 9, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said.

"It is good that the meeting will take place in Brussels, thereby NATO will see the whole process and fulfillment of commitments by these countries (Sweden and Finland). The third meeting of the permanent mechanism with Sweden and Finland will take place on March 9," Cavusoglu told a briefing with his Hungarian counterpart on Monday in Ankara.

So far, only two countries out of 30 - Hungary and Turkey - have not ratified the Swedish and Finnish applications to NATO. Negotiations with Turkey on the ratification of the Nordic application are expected to resume in the coming weeks.

Earlier, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg announced an agreement with Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan on a meeting of Turkey, Sweden and Finland on NATO membership in mid-March. Earlier, Foreign Minister Cavusoglu reported that Ankara is resuming the trilateral mechanism on the membership of Sweden and Finland in NATO, the next meeting is expected in Brussels.
