Prime Minister of unrecognized Kosovo Albin Kurti stated that Belgrade and Pristina could agree on the normalization of relations in 2023, reports Euractiv. According to him, Kosovo needs a corresponding deal.

"We need normalization of relations, and this can be achieved with mutual recognition as a central element. Of course, the goal is to conclude this agreement this year. What remains to be discussed - and it will not be easy at all - is the implementation mechanism, international guarantees and the time sequence of what, how and when," Kurti noted.

As the Kosovo prime minister pointed out, the EU's new Kosovo proposal will deal with "national minorities" in the preamble and universal concepts such as independence, territorial integrity and sovereignty. He also added that so far the deal is encouraging.

"We have to be very careful not to make agreements that do not pass the human rights test of the constitutional democratic and republican order, but at the same time we have to remember that there are national minorities in all the Balkans," Kurti stressed.
