Switzerland's economic growth rate is expected to slow this year but not slide into recession, the country's government said Tuesday, after reporting zero growth at the end of 2022, Reuters reported.

"From the current perspective I would not expect a recession," Eric Scheidegger, head of economic policy at the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs, told reporters.

He noted a mild winter that helped Europe avoid an energy crisis and recent data on economic activity, which he said were encouraging.
