YEREVAN. – According to the Armenia’s new Election Code (EC), serious amendments should be realized for a decent organization of the election process, newly elected Armenian Central Election Committee (CEC) Chairman Tigran Mukuchyan said on Monday.
According to him, part of the work is done. He is to control all it and organize verification of the amendments by law in order to carry out the election process decently and in accordance with intended law order.
Armenian parliament adopted amendments of the EC on May 26 of this year by simplifying the process of elections in accordance with the international standards. If EC amendments are realized fully, then elections may be held decently, Mukuchyan stated.
Regarding his appointment, Mukuchyan said that his candidacy was presented to the President in accordance with the rules of the chairman of the Cassation Court, and elections were held under the legislation order. Mukuchyan did not hinder presentation of his candidacy as he had worked as a member of CEC previously, later worked as the chairman of the Court of Appeals.
