The peace initiatives jointly developed with the Russian Federation will be implemented in the settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict. Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, expressed such hope.

"That region [i.e., the South Caucasus] can literally be called a nodular, another region where, however, there is hope that the peaceful initiatives developed by the parties [i.e., Armenia and Azerbaijan], together with Russia, will be implemented," Zakharova said Wednesday, on the air of Sputnik Radio.

She called the West's attempts to intervene in the situation of the South Caucasus a disrespect. According to her, this policy is not conducted for settling the aforesaid conflict, but for the "directly opposite goal."

"Unfortunately, we have seen such a trend here for many years. Now the Westerners have become even more active," added the Russian foreign ministry spokesperson.

She recalled that there are no successful examples of conflict settlement with the participation of Western partners, and "the number of conflicts is increasing because of the collective West and at the initiative of the West."

"No one can say that the situation has become better in any place where there was a foot, hand, or mind of the collective West," Zakharova stated.
