Hordes of caterpillars have “attacked” the fields after the devastating earthquakes in southeast Turkey, TRT Haber television reports.

Pine caterpillars were found as a result of field research in Cizre and Idil regions of Sirnak Province.

About 95 percent of these caterpillars were found on the roadsides, settlements and deserts, and 5 percent—in the plots of land around the cultivated agricultural land.

Experts are already talking about the resultant imminent increase in the prices of vegetables and fruits.

The authorities advise the farmers to use pesticides. But according to the farmers, there are few pests so far.
