Dzyunik Aghajanyan, Armenia’s former Ambassador to the Netherlands and Indonesia, believes that the 44-day war in 2020 was planned to end in a shorter time and with other consequences, but it was not possible at the cost of the heroism of Armenian soldiers. Aghajanyan stated this during a discussion held on Tuesday.

She expressed her belief that the aforesaid war could definitely have been avoided.

"If it were not for all the mistakes made, the situation that turned into a 44-day war would not have happened either. When diplomacy is silent, the cannons start firing," said the former ambassador.

According to her, as a result of the actions by the incumbent Armenian authorities, the country has appeared on the geopolitical chessboard where steps are being taken at its expense to change the “face” of the region, and to withdraw certain forces from the region and replace them with others.

"We are facing that very threat. When our security, our identity as Armenians in our homeland are threatened, the rest is of secondary importance. We are in the range that separates one disaster from another," she said.

Aghajanyan noted that Armenia's security shield, which was built in foreign policy, is being dismantled today, this process has been most active since 2018, and before that changes were made in the public sector.

"They are artificially trying to move the society from one platform to another without first providing a security shield for the existence of the state and the nation. We were very sure about the value system of our people and we considered it constant. We have made no effort to make our young generation adopt national values, including regarding culture. As a result, national values began to be artificially replaced by alien material values. And managing such people is easier," concluded Dzyunik Aghajanyan.
