The delegates of the first session of the 14th National People's Congress of China on Friday, voted unanimously in favor of the unprecedented re-election of President Xi Jinping for a third five-year term, Xinhua news agency informed.

A total of 2,952 people participated in the voting.

The re-election of Xi Jinping, whose 70th birthday will be in June, became possible after making amendments to the constitution of China in 2018. Accordingly, now the same person can hold the position of head of state of China unlimited times.

After the 20th Congress of the Communist Party of China in October, Xi Jinping was also re-elected for a third term as the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.
