YEREVAN. – Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan received congratulation message from French President Nikolas Sarkozy on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Armenia’s Independence, the President’s press service informs Armenian News-NEWS.am.

“I want to wish the best on the occasion of the 20th Anniversary of Armenia’s Independence from the name of French people and particularly from my name to all Armenians.

On September 21, 1991, Armenia regained connection with history and took its destiny in its hands. Armenia may be proud of what it has realized during the last 20 years, often in very difficult conditions.
Armenia built democracy, passed to market economy and acquired its position in the international arena. Armenia implemented it on behalf of its nation, and I want to pay tribute to your people.

France and Armenia are connected with firm historical ties, developed and all the time deepened fruitful cooperation in all spheres.

Be sure, France supports Armenia to stand the current challenges. I will have a chance to congratulate you during your official upcoming visit to Paris and my visit to Armenia, which I am honored and pleased to make in the near future,” French President Nikolas Sarkozy’s congratulation letter reads.
