MPs of the first session of the 14th National People's Congress of China on Saturday approved the candidacy of the new Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China. He became Li Qiang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, reports Xinhua news agency.

The candidacy of the Prime Minister of the State Council of the People's Republic of China was nominated by President Xi Jinping, who was re-elected for the third term as the head of state yesterday.

Also, Li Qiang was included in the reformed Politburo of the Central Committee at the 20th party congress in October 2022. In 2017-2022, he held the position of Secretary of the Communist Party of Shanghai.

Li Qian, 63, was born in the eastern province of Zhejiang. He joined the ranks of the Communist Party of China at the age of 23. He graduated from the party school of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, and has a master's degree in business management from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
